The Flaws in our School System

 The modern education system not only forces a fish to climb a tree, but it forces it to climb down to a thin road of competition where chances of progress are bleak. The word "education" is derived from the Latin word "Educare" meaning "to bring up". But does the school system really brings thing out from you? No, the primary aim of the school is to put information inside you and make you to vommit the data on one day of exam in order to get the most proudful thing in the world which is " A+ scores".

We are living in a world where creativity, critical thinking, problem solving skills, imagination etc. matters much more than memorization power. So why the school system is manufacturing robots who can memorize thousands of chemical equations and mathematical formulae? Most of the information which is stored by the school in the minds of students do not come under long term memory and they forget roughly 56% of the information in one hour, 66% after a day and 75% after 6 days. Most of the ideologies of school actually applies to sheeps and mules who can work hour after hour.
According to scientists, an average human adult needs 7-9 hours of sleep to function at their best. Apart from sleep during night, a 20 minute nap during daytime is good for brain. But what's the ideology of school at this point? To work till 1:00 am and complete 3 projects within a weak with tons of assignments?

In 2016 the number of suicides in India had increased to 230,314. Suicide was the most common cause of death in both the age groups of 15–29 years and 15–39 years. About 800,000 people die by suicide worldwide every year, of these 135,000 (17%) are residents of India, a nation with 17.5% of world population. In India one student commits suicide every hour. So what future the school system is making that puts pressure on students for a worthless exam?

What's wrong with the system?

1. The school system actually "forces" the students to study theoretical stuffs that has not much relation with the real world practical life.

2. The school system narrows the scope of learning. Ever heard this line from your teacher: "You don't need to read this because it is not in the syllabus" ? Well, this is the point where most of the curiosity of the students are shattered. They are not supposed to learn anything different from the traditional syllabus.
3. School teaches us to become a computer to use our brain as a hard disk in order to store stuffs and not as a processor that can process things. We are living in the world where we no longer need to learn the whole dictionary and memorize the value of pi to 10 decimal places. Re-inventing the wheels is a bad practice.
4. At school, we learn to listen and repeat what the teacher tells us. If not, it will effect our grades as well as our chances to become "something in life". I personally feel that school has never taught me the things in which I am good at, while there are tons of things taught by school where I really suck.

I am criticizing the system because it is actually the system founded on the wrong principles and beliefs. We might not have known what those principles were 100 years ago but today we have that knowledge to change. And most of us know that something isn’t working properly. We want to change the education system, but the fewest are not willing to do anything different. Change doesn’t come easily… And the problem lies deep because of us all: Students, parents, teachers and people in power. 

I am actually against the system and not against the teachers. Infact some teachers are God who really worth the praise. There are so many solutions to create the perfect educational system. I am convinced that creating the perfect school is easy if only we could apply an open mind. If we want the future generations to learn how to think differently and critically, we need to change the system.
