According to the statistics, air pollution kills millions of people worldwide, water pollution accounts a massive part of the health cost, soil and noise pollution combined are one of the major trouble to life. But, there is one more kind of pollution which is usually not included in the statistics. The pollution which is not only the root cause of many ills but also has a big hand behind many social problems i.e, "Thought Pollution". To understand thought pollution we firstly need to understand thoughts. Thoughts are one of the super powers which every human being possess. It is the super power which has the ability to change the world. According to Gautam Buddha:
"With our thoughts, we make the world and we are what we think".
Having negative and evil thoughts is termed as "Thought Pollution". It's a state when the same super power takes the shape of malice and evilness. Humans never had evil mind since birth. This defect is not genetic. In fact the thoughts of a child are the most beautiful. But the question is how the same child end up becoming the next devil of the society? Of course, the society is responsible for it, but, we are the one who makes up the society, Are we together responsible for it? Well, the answer is never so straightforward. If we analyze the causes deeply we will find a lot of underlying factors. Some of those are lack of parental guidance, lack of moral teachings, traditional superstitions, social media etc. In this Era almost every parent is so busy that they have no time to teach their children about the good and bad things. Education system too is focusing on ornamenting the child with handsome degrees without making them human being first. Traditional superstition beliefs are also a leading cause of thought pollution and lastly the biggest boom of the decade, the social media is on it's way to boost thought pollution through its expanding wires. Social Media has played a big role in spreading abuses, rumors which has even lead to riots and deaths of innocents.
Thought pollution brings a lot of problems for the society and of course, all these problems are by the society itself. Corruption, murder, rape, dowry, animal smuggling, sexual harrasment, robbery, racism, casteism, greed, bitterness, jealousy, enmity, lack of humanity, terrorism are just "few" deadly outcomes of the thought pollution. This pollution is exponentially contaminating the beings of the society. If no check will be given on this pollution, the day is not far when the few remaining priests will be in jail. Hindering the growth of thought pollution is challenging. The very fist step that could be taken is to reform the education system in a way that focuses more on teaching moral values and humanity. Parents should have a check on what their child is doing/listening/seeing on the social media. But the harsh fact is everyone wants milk but no one is interested to rear cow. Nothing will change until we change ourself and the change actually starts from us!
