Plagiarism

Plagiarism, a thing that all original creators hate. A lot of competition entry forms have a condition - Plagiarized work will be disqualified. What is the hype with the word plagiarism? Why don't people simply use the word copy? - Because they  differ and plagiarizing a work is more discontentful than copying a work.

Let's start with what is plagiarism?
In the most simple way, we can say that plagiarism means copying someone else's work and presenting it as your own; but in a more descriptive way, plagiarism means stealing someone else's original idea and implementing it with your signature design without altering anything.

For the sake of explanation, let's take a real example:

A YouTuber [say FunnyVines] with some thousands of subscribers posted a video with original idea and dialogues, another YouTuber [say LolCreator] but with millions of subscribers saw that video and made a similar one himself. LolCreator uploaded the video but neither gave the credits to original creator nor took the permission for remake. So basically, LolCreator plagiarized FunnyVines' work.

Now let's take another real example:

Lets say LolCreator made a video and uploaded it on YouTube but some TikToker downloaded that video and uploaded it on its account, so that TikToker copied LolCreator's work.

The conclusion from above examples:

When someone plagiarizes another persons work, the audience never knows who the original creator is but when the work is copied, the audience acknowledges the original creator. This difference makes plagiarism far more dangerous than copying.
I assume now you understand the difference between the usage of those words.

Why do creators hate plagiarism?
Creators can't claim copyright since ideas don't have a copyright.
• Someone else benefits from their hardwork and thinking since the original creator is never credited.
• Audience lives in deceive and blames small (but original) creator for plagiarism even if the big creator stole their work.
• The opportunities of success are stolen along with the original creator's work.

Why do creators plagiarize?
Only a small portion of the audience will realize that it wasn't their work and the rest might hardly believe.
• It is getting your job done without actually paying someone, just like the way some teachers spoon feed the weak students.
• Lesser work for them but with greater output.
• They would have already benefitted from the work before someone highlights that it was plagiarized.

How can I know if the work is plagiarized?
• If the creator paid the original creator before presenting it as its own, then it wasn't plagiarized.
• If the creator took consent of original creator and acknowledged him/her, then it wasn't plagiarized.
• If you see two similar works then the one which appeared latest is most probably the plagiarized one.

Should I opt plagiarism?
No, you should never look up to plagiarism for getting great output. If that idea ever comes in your mind then think once how you would feel if someone steals your work and you can't even claim it.

Why shouldn't I when most creators do?
Yes creators plagiarize but not most, only a few. In fact, most creators pay or acknowledge the original creator. If they don't, then most of them get inspiration from that idea. They use that idea as draft and alter it with their own original ideas, so they get inspired and not plagiarized.
